Persona 3 Review

By Mad Mage • Aug 8th, 2007 • Category: Playstation 2, Video Games

I love video games but they don’t always love me back. For instance, I know for a fact EA games don’t love me. But I suppose that’s reasonable considering some of the mean things I’ve said about them. Sadly, Persona 3 doesn’t love me either. I’m able to tell because it keeps killing me repeatedly. [...]

Metal Slug Online?

By Mad Mage • Aug 3rd, 2007 • Category: Video Games, Windows

In furthering the creditability of online journalism I bring to you a post on the Neo-Geo.com boards. It seems SNK has signed a deal with South Korean developer, Dragonfly, to develop an online Metal Slug game for PCs. Sadly, the link to Dragonfly’s webpage doesn’t seem to be working (as of now), leading one to [...]

By Mad Mage • Aug 1st, 2007 • Category: Nintendo, Video Games, Wii

The first (actual) new character in Smash Bros has been revealed, since E3 2006. Ike, from the Game Cube Fire Emblem. Ike wields a two handed sword with one hand. That’s just how he rolls. It is likely his move set will differ from Marth and Roy’s.

Harvey Birdman game to not suck, maybe

By Mad Mage • Jul 31st, 2007 • Category: Playstation 2, Playstation Portable, Video Games

Kotaku has posted a video of Capcom’s new PS2/PSP game based on Adult Swim’s Harvey Birdman. When the game was first announced, like many others, I was quite worried it would be an abominable 3D platform game just like every other game based on a cartoon is. Family Guy game, I’m looking at you. Fortunately, [...]

Izuna 2 announced.

By Mad Mage • Jul 28th, 2007 • Category: Nintendo DS, Video Games

Apparently, someone other than me bought Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja, because Success has announced that they are making a sequel. Izuna is a rougelike game in the same vein as Torneko, or Chocobo’s Mysterious Dungeon. here’s hoping it gets picked up for a U.S. release. Thanks to Insert Credit for the news.

Capcom to release Phoenix Wright soundtracks stateside

By Mad Mage • Jul 20th, 2007 • Category: Music, Video Games

According to a rep on their message board, Capcom USA will be releasing two Phoenix Wright soundtracks, titled “Ace Attorney Meets Orchestra” and “Ace Attorney Meets Jazz”.
I humbly speculate that one is an orchestrated arrangement and the other is a Jazz remix.
Well, they’ve been out in Japan for some time, but it’s great to see [...]

Great Games You’ve Never Heard of #3

By Mad Mage • Jul 10th, 2007 • Category: Video Games

The word “Obscure” gets tossed around a lot in gaming media. I don’t know if it’s because professional journalists only play mainstream games or if it’s because they don’t think gamers want to read about actual obscure games, but when gaming magazines refer to “lesser known games”, they are talking about games you see all [...]

Great Games You’ve Never Heard of #2

By Mad Mage • Jun 15th, 2007 • Category: Video Games

There are few reasons for people not fluent in Japanese to own a Wonderswan. Most WS games are either black and white versions of games already on other consoles, or RPGs/interactive novels in Japanese. The Wonderswan Crystal is conveniently tiny, sexy looking, and will run forever on a single AA battery, but it performs [...]
