Battle of the Arcs

By Mad Mage • Sep 25th, 2007 • Category: Movies, Nintendo DS, Playstation Portable, Video Games

vs. vs. Recently, two tactical RPGs have been released, both of which have the word ‘Arc’ in them. The market hasn’t been this saturated with tactical RPGs featuring some sort of ‘Arc’ since Working Designs released The Arc the Lad Collection for PS1. With so many options to chose from how can you tell which [...]

Bangaioh Tamashii

By Mad Mage • Sep 11th, 2007 • Category: Nintendo DS, Video Games

Well, looks like the new Treasure DS game has been revealed by Famitsu. It’s a sequel to Bangai-Oh, which few can complain about. Especially since there’s reports of a level editor! Here’s the first scan (scroll a bit). I wonder if we’ll ever see an original title from Treasure again?

Konjak

By Mad Mage • Sep 10th, 2007 • Category: Video Games

This guy is talented! Check out his games Noitu Love and Chalk. Both are free to download. Noitu Love feels like Kid Chameleon if it were a beat ‘em up and had Alien Hominid’s sense of humor. The visuals and music are astounding for a game developed by a single person (get past the first [...]

New Treasure Title Probably in the Works

By Mad Mage • Sep 7th, 2007 • Category: Nintendo, Nintendo DS, Video Games

Here is a countdown page that will allegedly reveal the new DS project Treasure is working on with ESP. I, for one, will hang myself if it’s another licensed title, so let’s hope it’s something original. Normally, I do not endorse needless marketing tactics such as countdown pages. But this could be the first completely [...]

PAX Report

By Mad Mage • Aug 27th, 2007 • Category: Entertainment, Events, Music, Video Games

This year’s Penny Arcade Expo was probably the best ever. With over 30,000 attendees this year, the Seattle convention center was packed and overflowing with nerd musk. Internet Overlord and Starship Ensign Wil Wheaton delivered the keynote speech, where he regaled the crowd with humorous stories of his youth spent gaming in arcades (remember those?). [...]

Persona 3 Review

By Mad Mage • Aug 8th, 2007 • Category: Playstation 2, Video Games

I love video games but they don’t always love me back. For instance, I know for a fact EA games don’t love me. But I suppose that’s reasonable considering some of the mean things I’ve said about them. Sadly, Persona 3 doesn’t love me either. I’m able to tell because it keeps killing me repeatedly. [...]

Disgaea Gashapon Figures

By Mad Mage • Aug 4th, 2007 • Category: Collectables

Probably to coincide with Disgaea 3, Nippon Ichi is releasing some nifty looking Disgaea figures this November. Thanks to Majoria’s News for the info.

Metal Slug Online?

By Mad Mage • Aug 3rd, 2007 • Category: Video Games, Windows

In furthering the creditability of online journalism I bring to you a post on the Neo-Geo.com boards. It seems SNK has signed a deal with South Korean developer, Dragonfly, to develop an online Metal Slug game for PCs. Sadly, the link to Dragonfly’s webpage doesn’t seem to be working (as of now), leading one to [...]

New Smash Bros Character: Ike

By Mad Mage • Aug 1st, 2007 • Category: Nintendo, Video Games, Wii

The first (actual) new character in Smash Bros has been revealed, since E3 2006. Ike, from the Game Cube Fire Emblem. Ike wields a two handed sword with one hand. That’s just how he rolls. It is likely his move set will differ from Marth and Roy’s. Source: Smash Bros Dojo

Harvey Birdman game to not suck, maybe

By Mad Mage • Jul 31st, 2007 • Category: Playstation 2, Playstation Portable, Video Games

Kotaku has posted a video of Capcom’s new PS2/PSP game based on Adult Swim’s Harvey Birdman. When the game was first announced, like many others, I was quite worried it would be an abominable 3D platform game just like every other game based on a cartoon is. Family Guy game, I’m looking at you. Fortunately, [...]
