Live action King of Fighters movie announced
By Cokomon • May 21st, 2007 • Category: Entertainment, Movies, Video GamesPlans are underway to begin shooting a live action adaptation of the popular video game series The King of Fighters at the beginning of 2008. The movie will be directed by Hong Kong action director Gordon Chan (”The Medallion”, “Fist of Legend”) and the screenplay is being penned by Chris Chow (”Fearless”). Given the pedigree of video game to movie adaptations, I have my hesitations about this one. Hopefully, it will not follow the road traveled by fighting game brethren Street Fighter and Dead or Alive.

Yeah, I saw this on neo-geo.com. I like how the Variety says the series was launched 21 years ago. Good ‘ol KoF ‘86.
I think it’s odd since the series is far less popular than any other video game that has has a movie based on it (at least in the English). Perhaps it will be nothing like the video game, only retaining some character names. “King of Fighters” sounds like a pretty decent kung fu movie name by itself.
