New Wii Virtual Console Games – 1/22/07
By Cokomon • Jan 22nd, 2007 • Category: Nintendo, Video Games, WiiAs is common practice every Monday, Nintendo has added some new games to the Wii shop channel. However, instead of the usual deluge of shmups and 1st gen NES games, Nintendo is bringing us something large, something epic, something legendary…
Among the new titles for this weeks update is the SNES classic, the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. The third game in the long running Zelda series was also the first prequel. The game saw a young Link revisiting the land of Hyrule, a land divided into both a light and dark world. Returning to the overhead view of the original Legend of Zelda after a departure in Zelda II, A Link to the Past introduced many items and conventions still used by Legend of Zelda games today.
In addition to the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, it is expected that three new Genesis games will also be released today. The beat ‘em up classic Comix Zone, the overhead action game Gain Ground and the platformer Bonanza Bros.
These games will be hitting through out the day, so have your Wii point cards ready.

Update: It looks like someone at Sega had the wrong date, as the only game that was released yesterday was Legend of Zelda: ALTTP. It is possible then that the above announced games will be made available next Monday.

I tried to play this for about 10-15 minutes a couple years back, saved and quit, and never played it since. Maybe I should try again. Just not into the whole Zelda game franchise too much. Oh well.
You should try it again. Reggie’s head demands it.
It’s a really great game. I think if you try it again and play it for a bit longer this time, you’ll become hooked.
I’m not gonna download it though because I think the GBA version is just as good.
I never got the GBA version. But 4 Swords on the GC was awesome, we should really plan to have a 4 Swords day in the future. Maybe sometime after the Uwe Boll movie night.
You’re not missing much. The GBA version has Link shouting when he swings his sword, and an extra dungeon. Otherwise, it’s just like the snes version. The extra dungeon is pure rubbish and quite short (merely a few overly frustrating puzzles). Nice that it’s portable though.
And yeah, I’m up for some four swords whenever.
